Over the years, we have collected and collated different making projects that we tested first-hand, developed, or modeled after tried-and-true projects.

For those guides modeled after existing projects, we focus on the inquiry model behind the activity, rather than step by step instructions. We believe the emphasis should be why we do these projects, and what students can learn from them and apply to later lessons.

Our project guide page features guides created by people associated with the Creativity Lab, from teachers to Americorps VISTAs, and each falls into one of four categories: space guides, project guides, expedition guides, and tutorials. Most guides have links to detailed material lists with quantities and distributors, as well as some background on how we’ve implemented them at Lighthouse and Lodestar.
